Approach
The Renzo Piano Building Workshop RPBW was established by Renzo Piano 1981 with offices in Genoa, Italy and Paris, France.
RPBW is led by 11 partners, including Pritzker Prize Laureate, architect Renzo Piano.
The practice permanently employs about 100 architects and 30 support staff including 3D visualization artists, BIM managers, model makers, archivists, and administrative and secretarial staff.
Our team has extensive experience working in multi-disciplinary teams on building projects in France, Italy and abroad.
As architects we are involved in projects from start to finish and typically provide full architectural design and consultancy services through the construction phase. Our design skills and capacity extends beyond architectural services to include interior design, master planning, landscape design and exhibition design services.
Among others, ongoing projects include : The Tokio Marine Headquarters in Tokyo, the Paris North Hospital, the new Politecnico di Milano campus in Milan, The Sharjah Jawaher Boston Medical District, the Waterfront di Levante Redevelopment in Genoa, and three hospitals as part of the SNF Hospitals Initiative in Greece.
Three themes play a primary role at RPBW, among others, they weave together the projects and approach of the workshop over time: creating places for people, working with light as a material and the ongoing search for lightness that relates to a piece by piece approach to design and construction where the detail and the larger whole relate in a meaningful manner.
